Welcome to the Peery Lab

In the Peery Wildlife Ecology and Conservation Lab, we use cutting edge ecological, genetic, and population modeling approaches to provide managers and policy makers with information needed to make science-based decisions about the conservation of endangered wildlife.

We focus on providing pragmatic solutions to challenging endangered wildlife problems – solutions that maintain viable populations while allowing for sustainable resource use.

We work with a variety of animal species and in many different habitats; projects include Spotted Owls and Marbled Murrelets nesting in old-growth forest ecosystems, wetland turtles in Wisconsin, and two- and three-toed sloths in a tropical agro-ecosystem.

A common objective across these projects is to identify limiting environmental factors and develop strategies for ameliorating threats to endangered wildlife. As such we work closely with a number of state and federal agencies nationally and internationally.
